A well-established international manufacturing business is seeking an HSE Manager to drive compliance, improve safety performance, and help shape a proactive safety culture across a complex industrial operation. This is an opportunity to establish yourself as the subject matter expert for all HSE matters while helping to create a safer, more compliant, and more engaged workplace.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and continuous improvement of the site's Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant UK HSE legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement a structured HSE improvement roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
• Conduct and review risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work.
• Manage contractor safety processes and permit-to-work systems.
• Deliver HSE training, inductions, toolbox talks and engagement initiatives.
• Lead audit, inspection and compliance monitoring activities.
• Provide expert guidance on facilities compliance, including fire safety, legionella, asbestos and statutory inspections.
• Produce meaningful HSE reports, metrics and recommendations for senior leadership teams.
• Promote and embed a positive safety culture across all areas of the business.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Proven HSE leadership experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering or heavy industry environments.
• Strong working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience implementing HSE improvement programmes and driving behavioural and cultural change.
• NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent professional HSE accreditation).
• Experience delivering training and engaging with operational teams at all levels.
• Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• Experience supporting ISO management systems and audit programmes.
• Facilities compliance knowledge including Fire, Legionella and Asbestos management.
• Experience working directly with regulatory bodies and external auditors.
• Background within textiles, paper, engineering, construction products or similar industrial sectors.
