The role offers genuine leadership responsibility, the opportunity to manage a diverse client portfolio, develop a talented team, and play a key role in the continued growth of the business, with a clear pathway towards future partnership.\n\nIf you have experience in practice accountancy, client management, corporate tax, accounts preparation, and team leadership, we'd love to hear from you.\n\nKey Duties\n\nManage a diverse portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.\nReview accounts, tax returns, VAT returns, and client files, ensuring accuracy and timely Partner sign-off.\nProvide expert advice on income tax, corporate tax, capital gains tax, and wider accountancy matters.\nBuild and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted business advisor.\nLead client meetings independently or alongside the Partner.\nOversee billing, budgeting, fee reviews, and commercial performance.\nDelegate workflow and support the day-to-day management of the accounts team.\nReview work completed by colleagues and provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development.\nSupport compliance, regulatory updates, and best practice across the firm.\nRespond promptly to client and internal queries, delivering an exceptional client service.\nContribute to business development, networking, and practice growth.\nProvide leadership and act as cover for the Partner when required.\n\nRequirements\n\nACA or ACCA qualified.\nMinimum of 5 years' post-qualified experience within an accountancy practice.\nStrong background in accounts preparation, financial reporting, and corporate tax.\nExperience managing clients including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.\nExcellent knowledge of accounting software including Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, and CCH (or similar practice management software).\nStrong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax legislation.\nProven leadership and people management experience.\nExcellent communication and relationship-building skills.\nCommercially minded with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.\nAbility to manage multiple client deadlines within a busy accountancy practice.\n\nWhat We Offer\n\nCompetitive salary.\nFull-time, permanent position.\nOpportunity to join a well-established and growing accountancy practice.\nClear pathway towards future partnership.\nLeadership role with genuine autonomy and influence.\nDiverse client portfolio across multiple sectors.\nSupportive and collaborative working environment.\nOngoing professional development and career progression opportunities.\n\nInterested?\n\nIf you're an experienced Senior Manager, Senior Accountant, Practice Manager, Client Manager, ACA Accountant, or ACCA Accountant looking for your next opportunity in Newton Abbot, apply online today with your up-to-date CV or contact Acorn by Synergie for more information.\n\nAcorn by Synergie acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment
